It’s easy to get stuck or hit a wall when trying to manage trauma symptoms, stress and low days, even when you’ve been working hard at it.
That’s because the body holds onto life experiences, which can show up as pain and tension, panic, worry, or feeling low and weepy. Even if the mind understands something, the body may still be holding onto old patterns. We can’t think our way out of this state. Deeper healing is needed.
Using somatic (body-based) techniques, I help clients notice, care for, and release what’s held in their body. Through this work, clients can feel more stable, both physically and emotionally. They become more in touch with themselves and can handle life’s challenges with less stress and more calm, making it easier to be present and peaceful in their daily lives.
Experience
I am a Certified Integrative Trauma Practitioner and Certified Professional Coach. I am a deeply curious and creative person and have always had an interest in the mind and body and the way they weave together. I have experience working with a host of challenges, including supporting people with mood concerns, symptoms of trauma, body image issues, and the struggle of living with chronic conditions.
I am informed and affirming of folks with various kinds of neurodiversity, and can support exploring sensory needs, interoception skills, as well as establishing a foundation of self-compassion or practical skills for those who would like more support.
It is my own personal history that brought me to this work. I am a survivor of childhood physical and sexual abuse, housing and food insecurity, and massive loss. I have personally known the struggle of trying to cope with these traumas and the wreckage it created in my relationship with my own body. I have had to learn firsthand how to heal from PTSD, depression and anxiety. And I know how vulnerable and brave it is to engage in the recovery process. I’m honored to walk with clients as a guide who’s been there at every stage of their journey.
Outside of Refuge
When not doing this work that I love, I am often found making something. It could be a crochet blanket, a garden plan, a cake, a piece of artwork, a living room fort for my kids, or a story. I enjoy creating things and sharing them! I also enjoy spending time with my family and good friends, and being outside, particularly in the forest or near any sort of body of water.
